Being Inspired- Journal Frames
Last week the girls and I spent a day in Chagrin Falls, Ohio visiting my cousin Colleen.
Chagrin Falls is a unique east side town (east of Cleveland) with a beautiful waterfall running right through it. We had a lot of fun seeing the waterfalls, feeding the geese, and exploring the many gift shops that line the streets of the downtown area.
One of the shops had a number of hand painted wooden picture frames for sale. The colors were splendid and very inspiring. For days after our visit I thought about those frames. Finally I decided I needed to try my hand at making my own...
Here is my completed version of a collaged picture frame. I used a wooden frame and painted it black. Then I got down to the fun stuff of collaging; old ledger paper, tissue paper, paint, inks, stamps, etc. I then drew the flowers on watercolor paper, cut them out and adhered them to the frame. I have to say I am quite pleased with the way it turned out and I have already started work on another one. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend:)

Love your frame and quote. I used to live in Cleveland Heights. Still have antiques I bought out in the Chagrin Falls area. One has to live the quote to live there! Been in Florida for 31 years now but it was a really nice place except for the cold.
Cassie, this frame is positively gorgeous...and I think you should see about having it published in one of the mixed-media mags, like those published by Stampington!
Thanks again for your ongoing support of my art efforts and my blog...I am so glad to have become one of your friends through this medium!:-)
I love your frame Cassie!
And great pics from photo post from the lake too.
I love how you see something in a shop, and instead of buying it, keep the picture of what you loved about it in you mind, and then create your own. Me and the girls just made a craft studio out of their toy room, with the hoped of doing lots of paper crafts and mixed media over the summer together.
Cheers
Ahhhhh...memories!! Rosie and I end of in Chagrin Falls a lot!! We were there yesterday!!!
